The Connected Consumer Panel Privacy Policy
The Connected Consumer Panel is managed by Professor Tom Novak and Professor Donna Hoffman at Center for the Connected Consumer, The George Washington University School of Business, Washington, DC.
This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices for the Connected Consumer Panel (CCP), is in compliance with the Institutional Review Board policies of the Office of Human Research at The George Washington University and follows best practices.
The CCP privacy policy adheres to the following principles:
- Adoption and implementation of a privacy policy that takes into account consumer anxiety over sharing personal information online.
- Notice and disclosure of information collection and use practices.
- Choice and consent, giving users the opportunity to exercise control over their information.
- Data security and quality and access measures to help protect the security and accuracy of personally identifiable information.
The core of CCP’s privacy policy is this: CCP promotes the principles of full disclosure and opt-in informed consent. Because we want to demonstrate our commitment to your privacy, we are disclosing our information practices in full.
What personally identifiable information we collect and how we collect it.
We collect your name, email address and the demographic information that you provide us when you complete your panel sign up form. This personal information is only gathered by CCP with your express knowledge and active consent. In addition, we collect the time and date you joined the panel, your IP address, and your geographic location as determined by your IP address.
We use MailChimp to collect and store CCP member data. MailChimp’s privacy policy can be found at: http://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
How your information is used
If you have joined the CCP, you may be contacted at the email address you provided us at a later date and invited to participate in an online experiment or survey. Your informed consent will always be obtained prior to your participation in any such experiments or surveys, and all information collected will be subject to this privacy policy.
Who we share your information with
The CCP does not share your contact information with third parties without your express permission. If the CCP were to seek to share your contact information, for example with academic researchers at other universities, this would only operate on an opt-in basis (i.e. your information will not be shared in this way unless you explicitly allow it.)
What choices are available to you regarding collection, use and distribution of the information
You can opt-out of the CCP at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link you will receive in your final confirmation email that is sent after you join the panel.
Your consent to this Agreement
By joining the CCP, you consent to the collection and use of information by the Center for the Connected Consumer and the CCP as specified above. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect and how we use it.
